one lost soul

Contributed by jesika on Monday, 16th August 2004 @ 01:07:46 AM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

one man on a corner
holding a sign
"please help me, im hungry
i don't have a home"
it's been almost four years
since he's had a place to stay
or a place to rest his troubled mind
and no one payed any attention
he walked up to a man
with his window rolled down
he asked if he could spare some change
and the man sped away
four years on the street
can do something to your head
and being a war veteran
can make it even worse
so one day he found a bottle
broken and sharp at the end
he put it up against his neck
and said to the darkness
"nobody cares about me.
i have no family or friends
who will notice if im gone?"
so he slit his troat
and died on the spot
alone in the world
as everything faded to black
and he lay in his own cold blood
one lost soul
that no one noticed was gone
another dead man
because no one could even spare a smile.
