World's Apart

Contributed by pixie on Sunday, 15th August 2004 @ 01:09:06 PM in AEST
Topic: SadPoetry

I feel so numb in my heart,
Feel like we are world’s apart,
Even when we are in the same room,
My happiness has been locked in a tomb.

You say that you love me so,
But you watch my tears as they flow,
Not even a hug or the offer of a tissue,
My depression is a very serious issue.

It won’t just leave me in the night,
It’s wrapped around me, gripping tight,
You think I can just shake it away,
Or it’ll go if I make a wish , but here it stays.

This is something you’ll never understand,
Is that why you’ve let go of my hand?
My depression has become a burden,
That is one thing I know for certain.

Heart’s feeling like a 10 tonne weight,
Soul is damp & in a sorry state,
I feel like my birth mother left me with a curse,
This is the one pain that no-one can nurse.

My strength has wilted & died,
I think I lost it when I last cried,
It has swam right down the river,
Never thought my boyfriend was an Indian giver.

Happiness dissolves like a sugared pill,
Every inch of me has lost it’s will,
I don’t feel I can go on a minute more,
My hearts been dragged through a glass door

Mark is on the receiving end of all this anger and depression you have. Consider how he has stuck by you for 2 years. But even the strongest of men can be pushed away because they don't know what to do. Men and women deal in different ways. Think of how all this affects Mark too.

theres some excellent lines in this poem - 'But you watch my tears as they flow,
Not even a hug or the offer of a tissue,' - liked this line it felt real - if that makes sense. I think this is one of your best efforts.

A sad piece, but once again you manage to capture the mood by a clever tapestry of words.
Well done
