"Its life conceived of simpler things
Its only want to soar
Away from all that each day brings
And sallow, dusty floors
Through winds conjured with airy sprites
And sails of velvet moor
To wander Wonderland’s delight
And tread desire’s shores
"In lifting warmth it gains its wings
And tints with ancient lore
‘Midst masquerades and long-lost kings
It floats away on snores
While ventures twine and shining knights
Depart to distant doors
In ever-singing moonlit nights
It sprinkles days of yore
"And though each breeze must meet its end
And what goes up comes down
Before the wafts of waking send
Our murmurs drift to town;
For every night begins again
As every sunset drowns
With faint remiss in shallow bends
Of dawn’s irradiant gown
"So have you heard the murmurs mend
Each ache and build us new?
Have you seen the wispy wend
Relieve the yearning yew?
And if you think the rain befriends
And grass is drunk on dew,
Then everything the feather lends
The feather gives to you."

WOW. This is just "working on" getting your touch back?!?!?!!?
This is glorious! Absolutely, utterly enchanting. The flow... carries one along as... a breeze does a feather. It's quite a lovely experience to read this. My favorite line? Oh! the entire thing is fabulous, but you totaled me with:
And grass is drunk on dew,
Gosh... that's a great line. I was the grass there for a moment... *sigh*,

if you've lost something i don't know where it is. all of your stuff is impeccable, there is nothing here lacking. you remind me of an english novelist. China Mieville. ever heard of him? |

If this is just "getting your touch back," then i'm scared how good things will get when you do. In my estimation, you've not lost a step. This carries all the aspects and characteristics I have come to expect from your work-- surgically precise rhythm, unparalleled rhyme, and insane depth in vocab and meaning. Oh, did I mention how great your phrasing is here?
"Through winds conjured with airy sprites
And sails of velvet moor
To wander Wonderland’s delight
And tread desire’s shores"
I think that one speaks for itself...Your talent knows no limit, my friend.
Caught in a twister, repeatedly bashed into nearby buildings,
-V.S.
