A shining building in a metropolis of evil,
A new disorder of plastic,
Any pursuit into sanity is always trivial,
This world is so fantastic
A conveyer belt produces the new faceless children,
Designed never to question,
Never ever to cry when you turn around and beat them,
New, awaiting inspection
So robust, gleaming new and of course designed for this life,
Aren’t you just dying to know?
This new technology rules, so powerful so precise,
With anywhere to go
Behind the gleaming modern masterpiece of the great plant,
Is the recycling dept.,
A conveyer belt this time caked in odourless dried blood,
The weak kids, all lifeless; dead
Scarred bodies fall into a pit greeting them with razors,
Destroying the uselessness,
Rebuilding their bodies from flesh and plastic with pliers,
This is a new confluence
The new generation spawned of the block lie on tables,
To be examined by us,
Perfection only to be obtainable in fables,
Our creation so robust
Ready to be abused on an international scale,
Children who can never feel,
Who cares about dead recycled lumps of lifeless plastic?
Who’s brains happen to be real
How soon do you think it will take for this world to exist?
Ignorance is bliss isn’t it? Its already happening…

I'm not sure about this. Am I reading something concerning cloning? Or am I reading a poem with a wider social commentary? I'll read it over again til I find out . . .
At any rate, this was graphically visceral (as usual for you) and lulled me into your wold in the way it was written out.
Thanks for writing it, Alec. |
