How can you call yourself a friend?

Contributed by Mick_Puttock on Thursday, 12th August 2004 @ 03:42:20 PM in AEST
Topic: SadPoetry

How?
Can you say that you are a friend?
Are you a “player”, is it all just pretend?

Can
You please tell me just how you feel
Ignoring me now all the time, just isn’t real

You
Say you want to still be friends with me
So long as I, you do not have to see

Call
Me sometime and please explain
It's killing me here, or is this your plan?

Yourself
Have captured my children’s hearts
And now you’re tearing them apart

A
Small thing is now all I have asked
Don’t ignore the children, each time they pass

Friend
To them, you could still be
Even if, you still ignore me.

Ouch! The feelings of losing a friend are so sharp and clear. I can recall them myself. Fortunately, they pass. Children sometimes handle them better than we do. In the end, either the friendship is restored or a growth experience occurs. I hope you can work it out, but if you can't it's what we need to learn.

I can so relate to this, Mick! It's as if they ignore you thinking you'll go away, or that you just don't hurt! But I know it does hurt. I like the way you've formed out the poem into an asking manner. It works real well! I hope your "friend"- for lack of a better word-"fool" would be much better- reads this and understands the PAIN she is causing!!!
Here's hoping your pain subsides soon!!!
((((((((Mick)))))))))
Angel always...godspeed...joni

I just wrote a friendship poem. Only my second ever. And to the same person, too.

Sometimes its hard to be friends - I believe this person is afraid of something. Give their fear some time.

Good luck.

I love the style you have used here Mick.
I am sorry that your going through this though at times adults dont understand the measure of hurt they do afflict when children are involved its not right at all. I wish you all the best Im sending a huge hug to all of you.

That is a very unique format ... I like that and might perhaps expieriment with it a bit. Content was heavy with emotion. Very clear. I hope things work out in a healthy positive manner.
