What is Death?

What is death?
Is it simply a cold and eternal slumber?
Is it to escape to the great beyond?
Is it when our many fears and anxieties overwhelm us, body and soul?
Are our souls merely left to float in a vast pool of nothingness?
Are our bodies simply left to rot, and our souls to be trapped inside them?
Are our lives merely a test, and death is the true beginning?
Is death really anything at all?
