Drawn To Here
~~~
I’m not sure why I’m drawn to here
For your soul is already gone
This place of death and gloom
Representation of when life goes wrong
Yet I come every week
Talk, like you could hear
Freshen the flowers around your name
And water them with a tear
Tell stories of what you’re missing
Show you pictures of my son
Explain how I’m feeling
As the emotions inside me run
For a moment I feel your presence
As a chill runs deep through me
Though I know it’s only I
Yet I want it so bad to be
I stand and get my footing
Wipe the tears from my eyes
Whisper “I love you daddy”
And say my last good-byes
I’m not sure why I’m drawn to here
I leave with my heart in so much pain
But I do it to be close to you
And place honor upon your name
OMG!! Jeff....I can so relate to this... It just so happens that the new school at which I have been for the past 3 years is obliquely opposite to the cemetary that my Mom was buried in..and very often I feel myself drawn to the upstairs corridor where I can look down on it....
Thank you for sharing this.....
