Pain Thrashed Walls

Contributed by waos on Wednesday, 11th August 2004 @ 12:48:17 AM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

Shrieking inside,
outside so silent.
I can feel it building,
my hope for life is stagnant.

It faded away from sight,
walked away without a glance.
I blossomed in it's absent atmosphere,
in it's empty expanse.

And there I was without it,
I was back to some childhood innocence.
Where all the voices once resided,
there was now sweet silence.

I dropped the walls I had struggled to build,
opened my heart to the world.
I danced beneath the northern lights
and lived in that soft edged dream-world.

But just like dreams this fell away,
one fell swoop dictated my doom.
Exploitation of trust led me down,
returned me to my gloom.

And now the pain, it's everywhere,
consuming me, breaking me, taking me away.
I can't escape, it's driving me insane,
leaving me with no other way.

It tears through my veins, infects,
ripping out of me, it rapes my soul.
Abandoned in my pain, can't feel anything else,
beg to be made whole.

Desperate to release it as it rips out of me,
through the wrenching sobs, the crimson pain.
I beg that you remember me beyond the grave,
just remember how I was slain.

External pain is so tolerable
in comparison to this inner wracking torture.
And so to pause this inner turmoil,
I paint me a beautiful picture.

I see the wall I created crumble
and now strive to build anew.
Recreate this protection,
to weather again all you threw.
