Goodbye

Contributed by lp15 on Tuesday, 10th August 2004 @ 11:20:12 AM in AEST
Topic: goodbyepoetry

Is it hard for you,
to keep being fake?
Don't you ever want to stop
and give instead of take?
Has it ever crossed your mind
that those walls are hard to break?

After they've been built,
no one wants to try anymore;
you might as well give up,
turn your back and slam the door;
you've beaten them down so much
their whole body is sore;
they can't even get up,
they can't take it anymore!

They never really wanted to leave,
and neither did I.
But it's gotten to the point
where I have to say goodbye;
I can't take the constant beatings,
your 'jokes' or your lies;
and though ill miss who you were,
I have to let your memory die.

But before we part,
I just want to let you know:
you were my best friend,
and I'm sad to see you go;
but we have to part now,
today and not the next
I tried as hard as I could;
I think I deserve this rest.

I can relate ... a well written piece. I have a few that are similar, if you are interested ... It is never easy being made aware that you have to let go for your own sake.
