Beaten Down Again

Contributed by Spell_Weaver on Tuesday, 10th August 2004 @ 10:36:21 AM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

A peaceful existence coming to a screeching halt,
hearing screams from the other side
of the looking glass...
Watching it crack with every slap and every threat.
Seeing the pain cross another's face
as you're trying to put her in her place,
but you know you're failing.
Flashing lights
blinding my sight, howls filling my ears
making me go deaf.
A bruised voice saying,
"Don't worry, everything will be fine."
But I know it's a lie.
Seeing the truth and hissing in disgust,
knowing all that I need to know,
while pulling the dagger out of my heart.
Thank you for beating my life.
Please make sure you clean up the blood.
and turn out the lights when you leave.
