Caught behind small shadows
My unimportance no longer visible to all
My reach exceeds your grasp
But they only seem to see when I fall
Lost in something so meaningless
Empty words that feel like something more
Escape into my unnecessary darkness
Feeding my internal war
Still wandering in the darknes
Lost because I can't find my way
I never outgrow your shadow
My soul quieted another day
Still behind your small shadows
Somewhere I don't want to stay
Yet you keep me here with no remorse
And you seem to laugh at my dismay
One day I will escape
I'll let my dreams carry me away
I won't be bound to the small shadows
My "someday" will be here one day

| Sounds like you're feeling quite trapped. I feel the same way with some of my own relatives. I like that you ended your poem with the lines " won't be bound to the small shadows/My "someday" will be here one day", they're very empowering lines and I sincerely hope that you find the "someday" that you want. |
