Massaging...
"relax and look inwards", I say
feeling the intensity with her
Surges course through her body
allowing a new life to emerge
naturally working with her body
minutes later...
crowning....
a little more...
"you're doing beautifully!"
a release....
beautiful...healthy....
it's a boy!

My friend is a Doula, and she assisted in the birth of my son free of charge. I don't know what I would've done without her. At first, I had my reservations, thinking I wanted the birth to be very private--but having her there made the experience so much more pleasant, as she eased my back labor some with a massager, and she was my voice when the doctors wanted to poke and prod. She also told them I was feeling "pushy," and I'm glad she did, because they discovered there was a good reason for it; I was 10 centimeters dialated!
