I Wish...

Contributed by theraven on Monday, 9th August 2004 @ 12:54:42 AM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

Woke up last night in between your yells
You two always screaming makes me so mad
Wish I had something besides myself to hit

Mom’s ranting rings inside my skull
Waves splitting against the cliff, that’s Dad
One of you will fall, over the edge and into the pit

My mind is throbbing, I just want to yell
You two, making my brother and sister so sad
Deserve to be punished, deserve to be hit

Always threatening me, never mean what you yell
Yet the words still pierce, like a cry in the pitch black
Wish I had something beside myself to hit

Put that piece away, I know you couldn’t kill
Me, but do it if it’ll make you glad
Anything to make you guys quit

Gentle crying, popping of pills
In the darkness; I wish I had
The power to help, to love, to forgive
I wish I had something besides myself to hit

The Raven

I love the way you told this story. It was sad, but powerful, and very descriptive. You had a couple of lines in their that hit home for me.

I wish I had
The power to help, to love, to forgive
I wish I had something besides myself to hit

Great job

Be True,
zenmind

Reading your poetry was like taking a trip into a Batman movie. Getting a VIP tour of the alleyways and rooftops of Gotham City, a place where even in the darkness, beauty can still be found. But the tour guide has control and shows only that which is deemed worthy (?) or personally of intrest at the time. I thank you for the tour and eagerly anticipate my next visit. Write On !!!
