The Home Of The Free and The Brave

Contributed by Bruce on Monday, 9th August 2004 @ 12:13:39 AM in AEST
Topic: Patriotic

Traveling across America
this beautiful country of ours
The Home Of The Free and The Brave
and the flag with its fifty stars

So many out of work people
that you have been able to see
Standing before you daily
desperately making their plea

Please change the way we are led
always taking and never to give
Bring home our poor soldiers
so many more of them will live

To live in this wonderful country
The Home Of The Free and The Brave
Don't send them again on false pretenses
think how many lives you would save

Help us regain our dignity
all across the world
Bring back American popularity
like before the last four years unfurled

The leadership we now have
and their ancient way of mind
Have put our country not ahead
but have left us far behind

Election day is coming
get out and cast your vote
Please don't repeat your last mistake
or America will become remote

I love to read political poetry. It's more real. Less about me + more about us. Even as Americans agree vs. disagree. We all believe in one thing. That would be the process in which our democracy works. America is a great country isn't she?

Great poem,

J~
