Hiroshima Remembers

One peaceful, impossibly beautiful day in August 1945,
A mushroom cloud of light and heat
Printed in black on the backs of old masters and the faces of babies,
The dreadful truth of mans’ destructive cruelty.
And not content with blowing to the winds
So many fellow human beings,
It has left, like a festering scab on a Madonna’s cheek,
A legacy
To the offspring of those unfortunate enough to survive.
These victims, their genomes forced along a crooked path,
Must wonder why they have to suffer
For the shame of their ancestors,
And how long the Wheel must turn,
Before forgiveness is due.

| Oh, this is almost scary. I have been reading a lot of poetry on war recently and was just given a picture of the 'mushroom cloud' of the Hiroshima explosion. It stirs up a lot of mixed emotions in me, just like reading this poem did. You've written an excellent piece here, pls keep on writing. |

A strong poem on the horrors of war,but God bless President Truman he did the right thing to bring about the end of that war.
Don't forget the death marches the forced labor medical experinces,the unhumane torture and the rape of China. Yes the right thing was done.
Keep writing.
