Who I Am

Contributed by CrimsonTears on Sunday, 8th August 2004 @ 12:49:32 AM in AEST
Topic: SadPoetry

Look into my tired eyes
Can you see my soul, and how it cries
Every night I sit there crying
From the inside out I’m slowly dying

I cut to let the death slip out
That is something I can’t live without
If I didn’t cut my cold lifeless skin
All my pain would just stay within

This way I might live longer
And maybe I will even get stronger
I know everyone thinks that is so bad
But they just don’t understand that I’m always sad

I have to say I have been living a lie
I’m sorry that I made you cry
But who you see just isn’t me
The real me, I don’t know if you’ll ever see

I wish I could just show you who I am
But I know you will mistake it for a sham
Because it is not the person that you know
So I don’t think I can ever let the real me show

So I think I’ll just keep living this lie
Even though it makes me cry
It’s like it’s just one big game
To everyone else the real me would just be a shame

This is sad, but I can totally relate. I am not a cutter, but my sister who recently passed away was. No one understood why she did it, no one really ever understood who she really was, as she didnt want anyone to see. She never let anyone in. I hope this doesnt happen to anyone else. Its just so hard to deal with. Great write.

CT, this is an emotionally draining poem, even though it's very sad I was hooked from line one...I believe that you're worth far more than you suppose even though I don't know you. It's a long and winding road, they say, and who knows what lies beyond it?

Thanks for writing this poem, if this is what you produce when you have a writers work your other work must be out of this world. I can really feel the emotions inside, i know how you feel. I have cut myself before, i try to think now i have somethng to live for but sometimes it's hard to convince myself this. PLease keep safe.
