We Care

Contributed by Pogo on Sunday, 8th August 2004 @ 12:33:43 AM in AEST
Topic: AmericanTragedy

There's a bullet in my head
And I dunno how it got there
Not even a second
Before it goes out the back of my skull
There's a dying little child
Somewhere in the world
Being eaten of starvation
What's this world coming to?

When we don't care about dying children
We don't care about our best friends
We only care about what we're sellin
We only care about dividends
When you don't care about true emotions
And you'd rather pledge to a piece of cloth
It only goes to prove my point
That America has lost

I hate you and your safety
What happened to fun?
What happened to scaring random strangers?
What happened to being dumb?
Now there's rules for everything
You can't even fight in school
Cuz everyone's afraid of stupid lawsuits
And losing money to corporate tools

But we don't care about dying children
We don't care about our best friends
We only care about what we're sellin
We only care about dividends
When you don't care about true emotions
And you'd rather pledge to a piece of cloth
It only goes to prove my point
That America has lost

Better not look away
Better do what they say

Well I say

I say -- what they think
And -- what they say
And -- what they want me to be
I'll do what I want
I'll do it when I want
And i'll do it my own --**** way

Now you do truly feel alive?

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
