Barbra Schmutz

Contributed by tlhInganHom on Sunday, 8th August 2004 @ 12:14:47 AM in AEST
Topic: StoryPoetry

A girl once lived on Knickelburt street,
Who never washed her legs, arms, hands or feet.

She despised all soaps, towels and cloths;
She loved the dirt, the worms, and the moths.

And so she was called by her family and all
Little Barbra Schmutz, who's not washed since fall.

They knew always (the kids on the block)
When Barbra was coming; she smelled like a sock.

So they avoided her like worms avoid fish,
That is, until she who washed not became rich.

The lottery was won by little Barbra's father
And quite suddenly they all tried to befriend her!

They followed her relentlessly, wherever she went --
From the store on the corner to Barb's backyard tent.

And these followers did follow Barbra's example,
Of which grew their stench quite foul, and ample.

Soon became Barbra aware of their smell;
The fumes met her nose and felt she not well!

She dashed right on home by the quickest of paths;
For the first time in months, Barbra Schmutz took a bath.

That is cute, I like it. I've a 9 year old with a soap aversion .... she loves water & swimming but doesn't care for soap. Think I'll share this with her. Thank you for your kind remarks on my work.

Curious tale of the filthy rich.

Much enjoyed it.

Thanks for sharing.
