City of Life
August 7, 2004
I love the sparkle in the sidewalks,
The mix of ages, race, and style at the corners.
The quick and few glimpses of sky between the scrapers,
And I love the singing homeless guy.
The scrolling words to advertise,
Above the rude drivers in compact cars.
I love the steam rising from the street drains,
And the stock quotes flashing by.
The high heels clicking on the pavement,
And I love the reflecting vests of working men.
All the empty buildings still burning their lights,
Virtual sex shops, and flashing signs.
I love the Irish pubs, hidden clubs, and gay bars,
Where the friction is high and the chances are low,
My city of life, meet San Francisco.

I like this very descriptive piece. " Where the friction is high and the chances are low," I like this line the best though, it has alot of meaning in it. great work. A++++ |
