I woke up late because I saw your face
and I knew that I was in love with you
I knew I screwed it all up when I lied
but now I know stuff I never knew
No matter what the reason was
or what the reason could be
I hurt you when I shouldnt of
so we broke up because of me
I am sorry babe for all the pain
and sorry for all the grief
Jus tell me what I could do
and change all those beliefs
I want you back dont you see
I learned the lessons of this pain
Just give me one last chance to prove
that without you it isnt the same

I thought your poem was perfect and radiated your inner most thoughts. Very well done.
I haven't been in that exact situation you described but I have been thru a break up. Using hindsight, if I had put my pride aside and accepted his apology it would have sent my life on a different path. No matter how hard he tried I could never allow myself to take him back. I learned lessons and the hard way is not preferrable anymore.
Maybe it is because i'm getting to old to run into brick walls all the time... LOL
