Tomorrow Never Begins

Contributed by A_Corseted_Heart on Friday, 6th August 2004 @ 06:49:17 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

I’m just a girl who loves a girl, who loves a boy who doesn’t even care…
And that’s just one more pain in this life that I cannot bear.

When yesterday is all that was and never will be again…
Today is yesterday, and tomorrow never begins.

The future is not now…
It’s never… and you’re never here, but I go on existing somehow.

I hope that you sleep soundly, but I know you’re never alone…
I am the one who helped you carry on with life… Now I’m the one quiescently by the phone.

Each night when I shut these bloodshot eyes, yet another part of me dies.

Alas, I crawl into an unforgiving bed of obscurity…
And say goodnight to the ghost of you and me.

Oh! I particularly like the opening and the closing of this piece. You draw the reader in immediately and hold them rapt until the heart tugging end. There is acceptance here - which is somehow much more appealing than they classic "I can't live without you" poem. Nicely done!

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
