She came home one quiet evening, to find her husband gone
He didn’t call or leave a note; she thought something was wrong
When he arrived four hours late, a wave of relief passed by
She asked him if he was okay, nothing immoral was implied
He told her he worked two hours late, then went out with the boys
He normally called about both events, but she overlooked that overjoyed
As long as her husband wasn’t hurt, her world could keep on turning
The worry she had felt all night, had kept her body burning
The next week she came home Friday night, with food for a home-cooked meal
He wasn’t even in the house, something wrong she could feel
Giving him the benefit, she slaved over the stove
An hour later she sat down, excuses her mind wove
She waited there two hours more, and then she fell asleep
She woke up in the morning, snuggled in bed deep
Was it a dream last night she had, or did she cook the food?
Was he really there on time, his absence did she stew?
The third time that it happened; she knew something was wrong
But it wasn’t what she thought at first, something else didn’t belong
Picking up a shirt, that was lying on the floor
She threw it in the hamper, then looked at it once more
There was lipstick on the collar, but not the color on her lips
She thought for one more second, could this explain the business trips?
She quickly grabbed a suitcase, packed everything of hers
Left before he came home, to a note that did concur
She wanted a divorce, without time to explain
He knew he couldn’t fight it, he knew she found the stain
What he did was wrong, but he felt okay
Because he didn’t have to see her cry, three years and a few days

I don't know why you aren't proud of this, unless this is a true story. This was very well written, it flowed well, and it made perfect sense. Very nice write.
