Another Part of The Mind

Contributed by CuttersAngel on Thursday, 5th August 2004 @ 01:40:27 PM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

I stare at the ceiling, another sleepless night
Another night gone by where you had the chance to make it all right
Another daydream occupying all the space in my mind
Lost in another dream world, avoiding what I shouldn't find
This world I've created surrounds itself with the presence of you
As we think back to a time when love was true
I find myself missing the past more and more with each returned state
As we follow the rules to the game we create
I can live in the past when I reach this high
And remember what it feels like when it's just you and I
The feeling of being in your arms, my head on your chest
Listening to your heartbeat as together we lay and rest
I remember your kisses that would drive me insane
But each high moment, it led to only pain
I remember being afraid, each night I was scared
But I kept in mind your promise when you said you cared
I was so young, so stupid, so blind
And now I play the price til the day I die.

Wow, those words just invoked a knarled hand to span the reaches of time and drag me back into my own past.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
