Call for probe into White House 'torture' memos

Twelve former judges, seven past presidents of the American Bar Association, a former FBI director and more than 100 other legal experts called today for a thorough investigation of Bush administration memos that explored ways to skirt the laws against torture.

The most senior lawyers in the Department of Justice, the White House, Department of Defence and the vice president's office have sought to justify actions that violate the most basic rights of all human beings,' said the group's statement, signed by 130 officials and lawyers, including former FBI chief William Sessions.

How to lie and say “We forgot.”
How to corrupt America in other eyes
How to show terrorists they’re right to despise

How to win a war and lose the peace
How to raise terror acts without cease
How to set the world against your face
How to depart the human race

An administration from to top to bottom
So corrupt, so lying, so completely rotten
This apple is diseased right to the core
And now they ask for four years more

How to fall into an arrogant trap
How to fail and escape the rap
How to be alone and deceive oneself
How to set America against itself

This ugly administration the whole world round
Is feared and despised on solid ground
From top to bottom they are vile
Conducting government with wilful guile

How to torture and say it’s not
How to lie and say “We forgot.”
How to corrupt America in other eyes
How to show terrorists they’re right to despise

How to win a war and lose the peace
How to raise terror acts without cease
How to set the world against your face
How to depart the human race
