My Very Last Words

Topic: dedicatedpoems

Where do I go from here?
This foot-beaten path is fading,
And there's a fork up ahead.
I thought we would see
This love through to eternity.
I must go one way, you must go the other.
Fate is tearing us apart dear lover.
Ne'er again will I read your soul through those bright blue eyes.
Nor will I hear truths instead of lies.
I don't see another crossroad for our hearts,
No bringing back what was torn apart.
Who else could say a thousand goodbyes?
But no matter... true love never dies.
I love you my dear, it's never said enough!
The road of life is always tough.
Though we may never speak again,
There's always a place in my life for you friend.
A symbol of our love you once gave me to wear...
That chain still holds it by my heart, always there.
I'll never forget how you held me close,
Or how you always said you love me most.
My love for you cannot be described in words.
Any human way is only absurd.
To kiss you once more would say it all.
With the strength you've given me, I know I will not fall.
To feel you hold me again in your arms,
This would be a heart's comfort, not a love's harm.
Hold me and kiss me, just one last time.
I know after that I'd be just fine.
I'll be in your dreams, and love you always.
I'll smile at you through all my days.
Nothing will cause this bond to be severed.
As it was said: "Buildings burn, people die... but real love is forever."

love is of the soul, and paths are of feet of clay, so when we cross and met and spend there is a day, when feet of clay go their way, but souls they always are, locked in love, thinking of one no mater where or how far.

Beautiful way to say goodbye, thank you for sharing.

The words are beautiful, sadly I've not had that love to ever be at risk of losing it... or having to mourn its loss. "Ever has it been that love knows not its own depth until the hour of separation." ~ Kahlil Gibran
