Darkened Comfort

Contributed by anonymussme on Wednesday, 4th August 2004 @ 12:29:05 PM in AEST
Topic: MiscPoems

Friends will come and friends will go, but you yourself will always show
All through life you can’t escape, yourself and all your bitter self hate
In the mirror you see your face, attractiveness can’t find a trace
Trash the mirrors and look no more, reflections in the water ignored
Throw a rock into the pond, ripples break it and beyond
Deserted and now left alone, all by yourself and on your own
The dark is solace, comfort, aid, the darkest of the darkest shades
If you watch the light cascade, for a moment you’re betrayed
Swiftly bring that darkness back, or fulfillment you will lack
Surroundings closing in on you, large places make you feel untrue
But tiny spots hidden away, bring comfort and never betray
Small dark places, comfort zones, where you can sit and be alone
Not a single soul for miles, at least it seems that way for a while
