carbon monoxide

Tears can run red, like wine, in these miracles of mine
Beautiful, rich, pure and guaranteed to get you high
Sip on my nectar, taste the pain that flows from inside
(the prettiest thing in the stain that it leaves, that black mascara lines)
Pain can be beautiful, iridescent as it shines
Through eyes that see the world as something they despise
Worlds can fall in water through your screams and cries
(the best thing is the blood on the wall of your prolonged teenage suicide)
Scars can mask such ugly skin, provide a place to hide
In a universe where freedom is a tiny room that’s so confined
Beauty is only skin deep, and yours is nowhere near as thick as mine
(the most beautiful thing is the process, the knife, the pain, the blood, the line)
(happiness can kill you, the want of something so sublime)
(belief that it will be yours one day is just another way to lie)
(the need for something so beautiful is such a lonely, sad desire)
(and the worst thing is the tears and the pain and the scars that happiness provides)
(if this is life, I’d rather breathe carbon monoxide)
