Polka Dots on Mondays

Contributed by thumbsucker on Wednesday, 17th July 2002 @ 06:47:33 AM in AEST
Topic: InspirationalPoems

She`s wearing polka dots on Mondays,
when lately she`s just been wearing blue.
It seems like a month of Sundays,
since her worries were bid adieu.

She`s going back to the card store,
mostly to read the verses there.
She`s buying ice cream cones once more.
She`s breathing in the morning air.

She`s making calls, long overdue,
mending friendships that were ignored.
She feeds the monkeys at the zoo.
She looks at clothes she can`t afford.

She`s singing Julie Andrews songs
and buying flowers for herself.
She`s decided to fix some wrongs
and leave some grudges on the shelf.

Her life`s back on course, all rearranged.
Dread`s been replaced with gratitude.
The colors of her world have changed,
since she voved to change her attitude.

I agree with Chrissie. This poem rocks! Sounds like me after I finally got out of a relationship that should've been done years ago. (and yes, I know I'm only 17... but even young people make mistakes.) I LOVE your work... and it does seem really in tune with the stuff that I write... (like you said earlier). Talk to you at your next poem... :)
