your eyes are static
they seem to see through mine
but i know they cannot
for i have depth
for i have soul
for i have more than you can know within me.
surface skimmer,
you see my flesh
but naught more.
how could you?
you lack the capacity my vacant love.
as empty as a chocolate egg
sweet and devoid of substance.
a pretty shell housing an empty space.
so keep on gazing into me
for there is nothing there which you could see
your big brown eyes
simply cannot disguise
the emptiness inside.

Good metaphor. I would have liked to have known why your love is so empty inside - and why you believe you're less empty than they, but perhaps this is the subject of another poem by you I haven't read yet.
Thanks for writing something worth reading. |
