When Grey Skies are Sleeping...

Contributed by morelikelyrics on Tuesday, 3rd August 2004 @ 09:30:32 PM in AEST
Topic: oops

I once knew this girl who left her home...
To a town of tranquil splendor,
She set behind all that she knew,
And laid rest to the busy life she'd entered.
And though she came to love such glorious places,
She soon returned to those who loved her.

But even comforted by a familiar song,
She soon grew weary by the abraisive world.
Set back by abrupt routine,
Overwhelmed by the thoughts that whirled....
Like the setting sun,
She missed the scenes she once had seen...

But fret she should not,
For the sun will come again,
Always with the same great warmth,
Always fending off the dark.
It shall break free from the grey cloud's grasp,
To touch every soul with amicable greeting.

And she too, will have her chance to rise
And find home in every heart,
But simply, she must learn to smile,
Even on the most cloudy days,
And she can wait till better times,
When the grey skies are sleeping...

(I finally got to use that phrase ^^)

Your use of words is wonderful. Your writting is definitely unique. Very good job.

I was drawn in by the title, as I've been under grey skies for far too long now...

A thoughtful write is this - one which evokes the frenzied nature of modern life, contrasted with the comfort of (what I perceive to be) a retreat.

"And she too, will have her chance to rise
And find home in every heart,"

Lovely sentiments.
Thanks for sharing.

This looks good. I like the story behind the poem/song too.
