California girl
Lost in the Mid-West world
Hopin’ someday
She’ll run away
And never have to live that way
Thinking back before
Any of them knew
What I was going through
‘California’s far away
California, that’s how it’ll stay’
Thinking back now
Wondering just how
I’ve ever made it through
California, I’m all alone
California, I’ll be home
I guess I’ll have to wait
For the play of fate
To get and set me free
California, in a while
California, make me smile
Nothing will be same
All of it will change
It can’t come too soon
California, show them wrong
California, where I belong
When my life’s mess
Full of all the stress
That I’m going through
California, I’m on my way
To my home, my home in you
California girl
Lost in the Mid-West world
Hopin’ someday
She’ll run away
And never have to live that way
California, let me fly
California, where I’ll die
