I am a teenager,
Not a delinquent and not a ditz
I am not just a face in the crowd,
I have my opinions and if you listened to me you would know.
I am intelligent,
I get good grades and understand the world around me.
Don’t tell me I am stupid because I am not,
Just because I am not as good as others doesn’t mean you can assume untrue things.
I am my own person,
I have my own ideas and my own goals.
I am not whoever you compare me to,
Not now, not then, not ever.
I am a person, who values my friends,
And would never… trade them for any thing in the world.
I am not a person, who would abandon someone in their time of need,
I would stick to them because I care.
I am a dreamer,
But don’t mistake that for being lazy.
I am not shy,
Just because I don’t want to talk to you doesn’t mean I’m afraid to.
I am emotional,
Sometime I have problems getting a handle on them but please be patient.
I am not out of control,
I sometimes need time to see the situation.
I am disorganized,
Just because I lost it doesn’t mean that I don’t have it done.
I am not whoever you want me to be,
So please don’t press your expectations on me.
I am a person, who sometimes just needs to be alone,
Some days I need the silence.
I am not a person who doesn’t need help from friends,
I can’t walk the path of life alone.
I am willing to take a risk,
I know that risks can sometimes be the best part of life.
I am not fearless,
No one in this world is and I am no exception.
I am a person with hopes and dreams,
Please don’t push them away.
I am not a freak,
Just because I have different ideas and interests doesn’t give you the right to label me.
I am a person, who can be optimistic,
Even in the hardest times.
Some days I am not ok,
Just because I smile doesn’t mean I’m alright.
I am sorry if I don’t get things right on the first try,
And mess up on a lot of things.
I am not perfect,
So let me take my time to learn things and get it right.
I am not my sister,
I am not as smart or as nice.
I am me,
I am just trying to find my place in the world, always will be, so don’t try and change me.

Enjoyed your words.
If it's any consolation to you, nothing much has changed since I was a teenager.... adults will be adults unless somewhere along the way they grow up some.
Stand your ground.
