Dark of Midnight

Grief

Dark of Midnight,
Piercing my solemn soul,
Slowly dragging out the dawn
That I had kept hidden in its folds.
Darkness in one swift, solid movement,
Penetrates my light,
Anger, fear, frustration, anguish,
Replacing all that was good and right in my life.
Tip toeing its way into my heart,
Grabbing a hold of my brain,
The darkness that lived in you,
Now has me to tame.
In one slow frame movement,
My entire outlook changed,
My soul turned black,
And in just one day,
I lost my battle the cage that has somehow locked me
Within its bars, and thrown the key away,
And I'm left here, without my dawn,
And not a single word to say.
