Webs by nature
bear all the implications
of a proverbial catch.
And blues?
These are merely strings
tuned to a constant state
of longing. You’ve always had
this capacity for cruelty,
cleverly hidden behind
stricken poses and frozen
emotions, black as the Bible
belt around your neck.
You will never choke
in public. You'll always walk
slowly enough to be seen
while my heart pounds its
fight or flight tattoo. But
I’ve been redeemed.
The spider? She danced salsa
as she cut me loose, sang
of freedom purchased
with the scent you left
on my neck, the tangled
fireflies you left in my hair.

I like this piece. The ending is great;
"The spider? She danced salsa
as she cut me loose, sang
of freedom purchased
with the scent you left
on my neck, the tangled
fireflies you left in my hair."
Good work.

A lovely ode to a relationship's life and death. They never do die completely, do they? No, relationships like phoenix birds tend to rise again.
