The morning sky had success embroidered on the wings of its clouds,
I had achieved, and today I was to reap the harvest of my labour,
But, what held me back? Ah! The sweet taste of stupidity spread its venom,
As I went not onto the stage to receive my well earned gifts,
The usual pressure of shaking hands and exchanging glances with the principal
Were all dissolved into an image of sheer irony,
My name was read out while I was slumming with my friends,
‘They’ merely took me for just another ‘absentee’, who hadn’t lived up to the moment,
The dawning came to me as my mother approached me,
Her smooth skin was rippled with many a frown,
I said, ‘If I didn’t walk up to get it, I probably didn’t even deserve it,’
And all she did was agree...
