Anita Huggenstuff

Contributed by Silent-No-More on Sunday, 1st August 2004 @ 03:49:34 AM in AEST
Topic: HumorPoetry

Anita, Anita - when you meeta
You’ll think she’s nothing that special
For she’s rather plain, an average Jane
But to get your attention, she’s quite able

She went to a meeting, a social greeting
Hoping to make new connections
She headed for the city, humming a ditty
Unaware she was in for affection

She wore a nametag, and like a flag
She waved it right front of their faces
As other guests arrived, there by her side
Unknowing she requested their embraces

As they read her name, they all did same
Each one gave her a squeeze and a kiss
To Anita’s delight, it continued all night
‘Twas just like she had always wished!

So unexpected, she’d never of guessed it
That they would all find her impressive
To stupid to know, she remained all aglow
Until one of them up and confessed it

It wasn’t heartfelt, and although misspelt
They seemed instructions, sure enough
With what her note stated, they felt obligated
So they just gave her a hug and stuff!

**Assumes a voice as if she's just won a grammy (which is her dream, you know) and you know those people are always crying like ninnies, so of course she's added in the fake little sobs**
I'd like to first of all thank Mick for starting this site.
I'd like to thank Kie, wildejohnny, Fionndruinne (Andrew-- Might I someday call him handy dandy andy? or maybe just dandy andy... *wow* i've lost it), Wachumiri (David, of course), and holderofthestone. I thank them because they're the ones who commented on my first poem on the site.
I'd like to thank Philomena and SNM for staying with me and going mad with me and laughing...uh...er... AT me...

Lots of love and peace be with you,

Chelsea

I mean Anita

Wow... it's amazing how dull insomnia can make a person. I sat here several moments trying to figure out what her "note" read, before it struck me, "Anita Huggenstff/I need a hug n' stuff." I think I've got myself a new knock knock joke for my daughter. :) Nice, airy poem after some of the more somber ones. Thank you!

I like this just fine,
but if this poem were mine
I'd have my Anita
hold a bright, neon sign
