On our way to Monterey Bay to see the famous Aquarium,
We load the buses one by one sorting out the bedlam.
They look out the window along the way, waiting to see the ocean,
The only thing for miles around is rows and rows of cotton.
Finally we emerge from the coastal mountains,
Their eyes light up as the glimps the great big ocean.
The children are assigned to a chaperone, off to see the sights,
Watching penguins fly through the water, to the children's delight.
Hammerheads, black tipped reef sharks, even a fish that puffs,
Filling it's body up with air, when danger is near, it bluffs.
The ocean beckons as the waves roll in, crashing on the rocks,
We roll our pants, take off our shoes as to the water we flock.
They tiptoe to the water-line, not realizing the consequence,
As the waves wash over them, their laughter is immense.
We file back to the buses, our journey is almost complete,
We pass out souvenirs, this field trip has been a treat.
Sleepy children, parents too, close their eyes in slumber,
They dream of all the sights they saw on the Monterey Bay adventure.

We took the whole 2nd grade class(120 students) on a trip to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. It is a 3 1/2 hour trip one way but the joy on the children's faces when they see the ocean for the first time is magical. Some of these children have never even been out of our county.

A wonderful write my love. I love how excited you get every year when you take the kids to the aquarium. Even though you have been doing this for 9 years, every year is like the first for you because it's the first for the kids.
love ya Thunderwolf |

Oh Gentledove your heart is truly filled with love. To take that many little ones far away!
Must have brought much joy to your loving heart, as your poem brought to mine.
Bravo......I loved it, the imagery was wonderful, and the picture just set it off like icing on a great cake.
Thanking you so much for all your nice comments on my poems also.
Love you
