With each day pass
I try to grasp
the fact that you aren’t mine
but my heart is fighting with all its might
to remain to true itself
to stay in the glory of love’s wealth
but my mind knows its a winless battle
and that I should move past its possibility
and look for a new reality
the reality that we are to be best of friends
to look past love and toward friendship if I can
and learn to love you as a friend again
