Love Survives

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Love Survives
I hear the gentle echoes
Of the way love use to be
When unimaginable was any silence
To the hearts of you and me
How exciting it was to feel
Your love surround and hold me tight
Going to bed knowing I’d see you
Again tomorrow night
And every waking moment
Your love touched my heart
So much so I was convinced
Nothing could ever force us apart
But as long as hearts are made of clay
Love can never be sure
And somewhere along the way
Life inflicts a wound of which there is no cure
And so it is with us
Hearts still burn at both ends
The only difference is
One has chosen to be friends
But our love continues
Out of balance but alive
According to the promise we have made
Our love will survive
Russ
