Thanks Mom

Topic: FamilyPoems

i used to want to be like you
now i hate the way you act
you used to be my idol
now you're a person of the past

i used to want to please you
now it's impossible to do
you used to do things with me
now i've left you behind

thanks mom,
for all the ***** you kept from me
now i have to figure it out alone
thanks mom,
for understanding
nothing at all

i've twisted and turned
every truth into a lie
just so i could try to be something you want
now i realise that its not me,
this person that im trying to be is you

thanks mom,
for corrupting me
to see what you want me to
to hear what is censored
to feel what is not

i'm out of your reach
i see the real world
the things i need to know
i listen to everything,
you don't want me to
i feel emotions,
that you never could

thanks mom,
for killing me
now im not anything,
that i want to be

A sensitive and heart wrenching write. It's sooo hard for kids to deal with life when the people they look to the most, doesn't want to give you the answers. I hope things can get better for you.

Kimberly :)

I spent the majority of my life thinking such things. Constantly fought with my mom until the day she almost died, 3 1/2 years ago. After being her primary caregiver for that time things changed and now she's gone. Tragic write Avril and I truly hope that in time things will change. And not stemming from something bad happening, but from time itself.

peace
