Grief

The wife is in the kitchen baking
The husband is in the yard reading
The baby is in her crib playing.
A sweet tune is playing in the back,
as the perfect family sits to their meal.
A tension surrounds the happy couple.
The baby is asleep in her crib,
not a sound to disturb her.
Then the serenity is broken by a crash.
Upon the floor of the room is the wife,
Above her is the husband hovering.
Blood is trickling from her lip.
The wife tries to fight back,
but the husband over powers her.
He just becomes more angry with her efforts.
The wife screams out in agonizing pain,
as the husband comes down to silence her.
The baby cries as she hears her mother’s pain.
The anger has risen to its highest point,
the husband strikes his last blow.
And the wife releases her last cry of pain.
