Sitting in Thought

Contributed by Solnubis on Friday, 30th July 2004 @ 10:44:44 AM in AEST
Topic: selfstruggles

I wanted to sit in my silence
I wanted to be able to hear my thoughts
I wanted to know who I was and how I felt
I wanted to be free of judgement and criticisms of oneself.
As I sit here words begin to consume my mind.

I have most of my life given myself to a substance
that I thought could help me forget.
I thought that all I had to do was stuff these feelings that would flair up at times
and push them back down again into my deepest part of my soul.
Then I wouldn’t have to feel them, how blind I have been.

I don’t believe in the devil because I feel if you have a faith in God
then good always overrides bad.
However am I correct?
When you have put yourself so long with a substance
that you know is killing you, then maybe you do have to say
could it be the work of the devil.

Could something so evil or someone,
make you do something that can bring death upon you.
Can evil produce something so wicked that in the blink of an eye
your life can be over.
Then would this in turn be concidered the Devil’s work.
Or can it be up to your own doing?

Just a thought.
