Spot The Mark

What I’ve seen and what I’ve heard
from you it’s true sometimes do match -
though sometimes measures as so small
it barely leaves a surface scratch -
but from the most times what I’ve learnt
has birthed a feeling in my gut
to warn the scratch is there to mark
the spot so you’ll know where to cut.
