I'm sp sorry I hurt you,
My most loyal friend.
For eight years I've loved you,
For many more I'll continue,
But at a distance.
I won't lie,
I've thought
Some bitter thoughts,
But they're always erased
By memories
Of the good times we've shared.
I know that now you hate me,
But I suppose I deserve it,
After everything
I've put you through.
But what have I put you through?
The only reason I never gave you,
I didn't tell you
Because when you ended it,
I saw no need to....
When I went to her house,
Yeah, I was there to visit
And to get directions
To the lake,
But do you know what I told her about?
What we talked about?
She and I
Talked about you.
You know what I asked for her thoughts
About ?
I was going to ask you
To marry me.
But since you hate me,
I guess I'll have to
Go back on a promise I made to you.
I said I wasn't walking out
Of your like,
And you weren't about to walk out of mine.
As much as I hate to say it,
Since you hate me so,
I'll just have to walk away
From you.
Believe it or not,
It hurts me terribly,
But it's what I have to do.
Even if you choose to forget,
I'll choose not to.
I'll always hold your place
In my heart,
Always have the memories,
Always remember
How you were my first love
And my closest friend.
I'll never forget you,
Even if you forget me.

Wonderful........reminds me of the emotions I felt when my ex-husband and I split, he was my high school sweetheart and my first love, very touching : )
