A great glove,
A perfect mitt,
It was never quite fitting
To say–until now.
A great Dad,
A perfect father,
We never bothered
To say—until now.
Your old ball glove is an allegory
For love and the way you showed us
How to play the game.

He may be too old to actually use it, but he is not too old to cherish the memories that are contained within it. We care for and cherish the things we love till the very end.
