Lost Soul
---------
This man is drowning in
Self-pity, self-respect, self-destruction
The only bright spots in life
Are really just interruption
Lost and dazed
He walks about his life
On a ledge
He thinks about his wife
How would it be?
If he just disappeared
Would anyone noticed?
Would anyone really care?
With a tear
He walks into the black
His life is gone
As gravity attacks
Left of pain
Left of anything to gain
In the papers
Is where you’d read his name
He checked out early
His grandkids he’ll never see
He never gave them the chance
To give him a reason to be
All the things of beauty
He left before their time
Some brown, decaying flowers
On his grave you would find
And a little dampen note
Written by someone really who cared
Praying for your soul
And moisten by a tear

That's really really good. It was so sad there at the end, knowing that he was gone. And when you talked of his grandkids and him never giving them a chance to give him a reason to be, that spoke to me, because what would I be leaving behind if I left?

Wow this is really good. I think everyone that has ever suffered with depression has experienced this at least one time in their life. Where they had those same questions going through their head. I know I have and I know i'm not alone. Thank you for sharing this piece.
