There is a place I now know well,
Where water's depths belie what's true,
And beliefs, though once apparent, are revealed
as symbols in distortion,
Products conceived of a shadow's consummation.
At fountain's edge in cloak of night,
Idealized now in the after-image metaphor
(Wherein the moon is always full, and waters,
like crystal in their clearness),
A woman walks, unaware and uncaring of my presence.
She does not move with angel's gait,
Nor does her form match that of poet's desire,
But that likeness, recalled so fondly now in me,
is most human in the common sense,
And those things we share, tonight are shared in silence.
In this place where both we dwell,
Where shadows waver in uncertain refrain
(For what measure might a man, unenlightened,
make of his own reflection?),
Do symbols give way to dreams apart from illusion.

Nice use of language.
Your last line got me to thinking about Carl Jung . . . and I drifted, because i'm tired and its late. An involving write.
Keep writing. |

I liked these especially - you have an interesting way of expressing, and I enjoy the challenge of the read.
nice work.
