Life Goes On

Contributed by kidpoet_213 on Wednesday, 28th July 2004 @ 03:10:49 PM in AEST
Topic: Grief

We bear our grief in silence when a friend or loved one dies
Offering little time for consolation as we lay them to rest one final time
We... then... sort trough our minds
Sparking bittersweet memories we thought were lost to time
We replay them again and again a thousand and one times
Trying to wish away the tears from our eyes
But in our hearts we know life goes on...
Our days on earth are but a shadow passing through
Disappearing into the twilight's dawn
Forever just a memory gone... but...

Life goes on... you know it does
Even in the worst of times... life goes on...
Even when you’re standing in the shadows of life or sitting on the shore
Life goes on and on...

Even though yesterday's gone... tomorrow is but a dream
We can live for today and do all we can I pray
We are all strangers in this life
We are but of yesterday and know nothing of tomorrow
We think of the years gone by... living in another time
Thoughts of yesteryears... we hold in our hearts... so dear
Memories dusted with age
Turns back a clock... page by page
To another chapter in our lives
Another journey through mirrored time
As life goes on...

Everything you said is true.

Life does go on but there is a brief pause in time where the world goes on around you and its as if you are dazed or in a movie.

I guess it is one of the season's of life.

I really liked this alot.

I really relate to this poem b/c last year i lost my brother, and thats exactly how i felt. theres no way to take the pain away, but its easier to let go of the pain when you're honest with your feelings. so good job!

The feelings in your poem brought past memories of long ago! Yes, time stands still for a moment and a day.....as shocked you are when a loved one passes away! It took me 2 years to finally settle down.....It was utterly unbelievable until then.
This poem exceptional! Thank you so much those deep seated feeling with me.
Hugs

This is so true...but... I guess to each his own.... We each have to deal with loss the best way we know how....and I have had so many close and loved ones die, especially of late.... so forgive me if I am being cynical...
