Into his eyes I noticed
a difference of misplacement
the smiling black face
was not in its place
Told I was by his partner of flowers
his boyhood innocence was taken
for Gang initiation
fear and horror, which I now realise
was what I saw in his eyes
My young friend of connection
How do I reach out to break the barriers
Barriers of our social system
Approach you I want to
I understand, and you should feel no shame with I
I still connect with you.
