time shall be no more

Contributed by buccaneer on Monday, 26th July 2004 @ 03:24:58 PM in AEST
Topic: Grief

we have tomorrow bright before us like a flame
yesterday a night-gone thing,a sun-down name,
and dawn today broad arch the road we came
why do you still cling to an idle age and a musty page
why do you still cling to a dead and useless thing
i hear a voice crying,crying:
time shall be no more
time shall be no more
time shall be no more
the sun will go out like a candle in the wind
the moon will turn to a dripping blood,
the star will fall like cinders,
the sea will burn like tar;
and the earth shall melt away and be dissolved,
the star will roll up like a scroll.
sinner,oh sinners where will we stand.
and another voice answered
at your feet o'lord,at your feet we stand.
sorrow like sea, lord let your mercy come drifting on us
how would you have us,as we are?
or sinking beneath the load we bear,
our eyes, fixed forward on a star,
or gazing empty at despair?
lord, lord we cry at your feet
if we must die-let it not be like Hogs
hunted and penned in an inglorious spot
if you take from our heart, prayers our lips are willing to utter
and turn how coarseness into a beauty of the jungle
what more are we than the soil, whence we came
turn again.o'lord, leave us not to perish in our sin
from lust of body and lust of blood
from lust of power and lust of gold
from the leagued lying of despot and of brute
great God deliver us.
we cry again o'lord not for time
for we know,it shall be no more one day
but for today so that we may repair that which we have destroyed yesterday to better our tomorrow
for we know that with the wave of your hand
you will blot out time
starting the wheel of eternity.
and time shall be no more
Deliver us o God.
